These are my first pair of Brooks and I am very pleased with them. I get shin splints and leg cramps or back aches from some running shoes and these have been great. I wear them very long hours, not for running but for daily homemaker chores and errands. Lightweight, pretty blue that goes well with jeans and shorts. I always buy one whole size larger in running shoes, as I did with these, and they are perfect with my medium weight socks. I recommend these and will buy these or the newest version of these when I buy again. (The whole size larger suggestion came from two different athletic shoe stores, and I’ve done it for years with every running shoe I’ve bought.)

This shoe is freakin’ awesome. I’ve been training now for a few ultras coming up and I was looking for a good racing shoe that combines enough cushioning with just a tad of support. This is it! This is my second pair of Brooks running shoes. I had the Glycerin model before. Compared to the Glycerin, the Ghost is heavier weight, and has a wider toe box, and has a little more cushioning/stability. I loved my Glycerins but wore them out. I wore my usual size 7.5 in the Glycerins and ordered an 8 in these since it said to buy a half size bigger. They fit great. Getting a high quality pair of running shoes is essential. When I bought these and ran in them for the first time after using my Nike and New Balance running shoes, I was amazed at the difference. These shoes have so much more cushioning than the $40-50 Nike and New Balance running shoes. When I ran in those, the fit was fine, but every time my foot hit the pavement, I felt it a little bit in my knee and shin and foot joints. But when I wear my Ghost running shoes, I don’t feel anything in my legs or feet. It’s like running on pillows. So if you want a shoe that protects your joints, I highly recommend the Brooks Ghost running shoes.

I bought these shoes for two reasons:

1. Trail running
2. Hiking

Unless you are going on a terribly difficult multi day trail, trail runners are absolutely the best show for day hikes. These do not disappoint. They are easily one of the most comfortable shoes I’ve purchased in a long while. They provide enough support for running, and breathe very well (my feet never feel hot).

Please note that these are bright yellow. If you have the right personality, that can be a nice plus, but either way you will stand out and people will notice them =).

So far I have taken these for a spin on a few trail runs, and have been exceptionally pleased. They have great base support on the bottom as well as nice treads, though the shoe is still appropriate for some road running as well (some trail runners are not!). They are fairly heavy suckers, but that’s the price you pay for stability. Appropriate for those who are interested in a solid trail running shoe, also appropriate for day hikes. Note that they do come in two colors, I think the red is actually less flashy than the yellow (especially after you get some dirt on them…)
